New Recall For 2004 Lancers Es,ls,oz #c0505j

yes...this is right.

Just called mitsu headquarters at 1-888-648-7820 and rep asked me for the last 8 digits of VIN and pulled up the recall data.

1 recall : PCM / recall code# c0505j

by the way, my model is 2004 MITSUBISHI LANCER ES.

CALL UP MITSU AND GET TO THE CLOSEST "STEALERSHIP" LOCATION TO GET YOUR ECU REFLASHED.

Wasnt notified what so ever....just called Mitsu HQ to bug them and found this out.

I dont think that Mitsu is going to send the notification letter to the owners so whoever know about this is lucky i guess !!!

^^ Isn't that illegal? Aren't they required by law to report the recalls?

What do you mean "called to bug them?" Do you OFTEN call Mitsu HQ just to see how everyone is?

Did they give any details as to the nature of the recall?

i always call mitsu atleast once a week cause of the rattling noise that i am getting. I also check on my loan status and always check on the warranty on my car.

As far as details go......the rep told me that it is related to the ECU and the dealership will reflash it for u.

u can call them atnumber above for more info and make sure that u have last 8 digits of VIN number handy.

I'm pretty sure you're right. Wouldn't there be legal action for the owner to take? Especially since it isn't a trivial recall about a sticker or anything?

i had the recall done yesterday while they were fixein my tranny, as did a few others around here, it takes 15min tops to do like stated earlier its a pcm reflash for the preheating of the catalytic converters....and even if u dont have any cats mitsu said its still a good idea to have it done.

Just like Ryan said, it's a pcm reflash, not ecu reflash, I got mine done when he got his done. It is a recall and your Mitsu dealer will know about recalls before we do. We just happened to be there at the same time and they said when we get the recall notice in the mail to just ignore it.

i'm pretty the ecu and the pcm are the same, it is not a full reflash, its one line of a book of code. all it does is allow your car to preheat your catalytic convertor... letters are going out next week, etc.

Probably right, not sure. I just said pcm because I asked yesterday before you got there if it was an ecu reflash, and they said no, just a pcm reflash. I didn't think one could flash our ecu's, if that were not the case than dynoflash would be able to make a flash for us too, right?

^ thank you, thats what is how i believed it to be. Slovak the term pcm is used more by dealerships... tuners use ecu/ecm more.

I believe that no one can reflash our ecu is because mitsubishi wont give out the coding to read and change it and no one has cracked it either. Mitsubishi can reflash it because it is their ecu you and the engineers wrote the code. At least that was my understanding. I could be wrong.

As for seeing your wires and stuff, hopefully they can just plug in stuff to the obd II port and the other port to reflash it... wishful thinging i know.
