So are people pretty happy with the EVO as a daily driver?

How are cabin noise levels? How is the ride (firm, harsh, etc.)? How is the comfort of the seats? Could you see driving cross country in it?

I'am absolutely happy with it, there isn't any problems. Except the small fuel tank comparing to the car's consumption.

I've read that the E7's are "better" in this respect than the E6's.

The 7s a cruiser compared to the 6, yes. But the 6 is the best car after an E55 AMG that I've driven over long distances, the seat are absolutely superb. But like Mike7 mentioned, the tank doesn't last for too long although it was never a problem for me when I still used to drive mine over long distances.

It's very interesting, that most of the people think the Recaros are uncomfortable. They aren't! I can sit in them 1000 kms without any pain in my back. The car has climate control, and very good steering wheel position (much better than in a VI )

Climate control? That's surprising...

Manual airconditioning for the RS and RS-2.
Climate control for the GSR.

Speaking of which, the Evo engine produces so much heat that you wont even need to turn on the heater during the winter time. Just turn on the fan and you get nice warm room temperature air.
In the summer, the air con sucks, as it also produces only slightly cold air. The windows lowered was actually better than the "air-con". Maybe the one i drove wasnt working well.

Do you guys have the same problem too?

Sounds like your talking about my 99 Eclipse GSX. Is the common amongst turbo cars?

It might be your car. Here in Singapore where it's perpetually 95 degrees all year round, Japanese cars are known to have a better AC unit compared to European makes.

I'm happy with my evo6 too.
The seats are comfortable (btw. i don't have the Recaros) on long tours,
my airconditioning is working perfectly in summer...
The car has a very hard suspension but this doesn't really matter on the highway.
The only thing is, that over 180 km/h the cabin-noise goes infernal...
but that's not a real problem with a good stereo...

RA, get you aircon-unit checked. Could be leaks and through that not enough aircon fluid....
