Talking So how did your fateful encounter with your Lancer happen?

Mine is a long story...

Chapter 1

From August 2003 until February 2005 I was driving a 85 Pontiac Fierro GT . It was my moms car my only pick and it was an Auto. At first I wanted to find an old Chevy or something and fix it up but those plans eventually changed...

I was 18 and seeing everybody with a Honda Civic/Accord I wanted one! I wanted the shiny lights, big rims, crazy vinals, loud *** exaust, I wanted it all! My ex had an a 96 or so Accord and I also wanted one. I would lay awake many a night wishing and telling myself one day I will save up enough money and I'll have a Honda.

Chapter 2
Parents broke up when I was late 19 and I had my mind set on my own car now. Still wanted a Honda or something cool. Early 20's the Fierro started to go down, its one thing after another after another...It became apparent that I needed a new car. I wanted one of my own. So, I work and do I ever. Bit by bit I save my money and my mom picks up notice of what I want (a car) and how I'm working for it. I hear the word from her, "What you put up I will match. We need to get you a car". So, its just me, my drive for a car, and her. Deadline...March 2005

Chapter 3
I had my eyes set on an Eclipse! Not just any style Eclipse but the 2G style! I was in love! I had to have it! I drove a coupe before and I needed another coupe. The Fierro was going down hard (Times I had to borrow cars and get rides). I had about 2Gs and an iwanta ad book. I could get an Eclipse for around 4-5Gs.

November-February I looked called and worked for that car. I had big plans and it had to work. I had people looking for me and I had my mind made up. Nothing more nothing less. ECLIPSE! Forget a Honda! Hondas are overated and are just part of the crowd. My uniqueness would be lost in the sea...

Chapter 4
So, its almost March still no car. All the Eclipses had been beat with the "Mitsubeater" stick. So off to the dreaded dealerships (No Eclipses there I know) and long story short I ended up at a Chevrollette dealership. I was crushed...no coupes, no cheap "guy cars" nothing. The dealer tried to push a Ford Focus on me and made me mad! Then right next to each other...a 2001 Civic $14,000 a 2002 Lancer OZ $13,000. Mom said what about that one the Honda? I quickly responded, "How?! I thought our price range was in the $7,000" Come to find out she knew the dealer. Ok...but I held strong, No, Hondas! Then the guy pointed next to it. What is it ? I respond...Ummm...the paperwork says its a Dodge. says the dealer. I walk to the back, Its a Mitsubishi. Ok...a little progress. But a Lancer? I've never heard of a Lancer before. (I didn't even know what an Evo was) complete noob

So he opens it up, its very clean and has the new car smell! Offers me a test drive, I refuse, my brain says ECLIPSE ALL THE WAY! Then I ask how fast is it? and he hands me the keys. So, we crank and roll out. I comment about my old 86 Fierro V6 and he says its not quite as fast as that. So, we pull back into the lot and I like it...sorta. At least it has power steering. The Fierro barly had AC!

Before I know it he is running my credit, I'm financed and I'm going home with a car I've never heard of with only 48,000 miles on it, still under Mitsu warranty and I have an exteded warranty on it for about $13,500 (friend discount) and till this day there were no other Lancers in my city until I got mine I live in a small town so I know. I think my car is sooo bad. I'm keeping it until the bitter end.

I know people don't post this long but I wanted to see if any others had a simular or even a worse story. Thanks to all that read!

Mine was i wanted something that was a compact car but not a honda. something you don't see a lot of on the streets.

Even though I live in St. Louis I very rarely see other Lancer's/Evos around.

Plus I'm not much of a fan of the integrity of domestics.

Mine started when I got gran turismo 3, I fell in love with the evo and wanted a mitsubishi sedan myself. Unfortunately at the time mitsubishi was not in Canada. Luckily just when it came time to buy a car two dealerships opened up in Calgary. I only test drove one other car before deciding on my lancer and I've never looked back.

For my first car, my friend mentioned a Lancer, went and looked at the 03, but because it was december, so my dad said the 04s should be out now. But the dealership had none, so we looked online and had to go to a dealer like 50 miles away. They had 1 ralliart and 1 04 OZ. My dad was paying for it so he said no RA, too much engine. So i debated between the 03 and 04 for like 30 minutes. The 04 had the sun and sound package and none of the 03s did. And i liked the 04 look better. So i went with the 04 and my dad paid for it in full that day and I drove home with my brand new 2004 Lancer OZ, on December 24, 2003. Great Christmas present.

It's quite a sad story actually. I had to get rid of my '90 Nissan 300ZX (mileage was getting WAY too high, even though the car was beautiful), so I had to find something more practical. At the time, I lived a block away from the Mitsubishi Dealership, and drove past it every day. The day I was ready to get rid of my Z, I saw a nice silver '03 Lancer OZ Rally. I drove it, liked it, and was amazed by the gas mileage (my Z got 18MPG TOPS). The sticker price was $11,900 with 46k, and I was sure I could take him down. I did. I walked off the lot with it for $10,500. Now its ready for a turbo.

Because I had always had modded vehicles and was into cars since I was 15 (which was almost 10 years ago now!) I had known about the EVOs in japan for years. I had seen them in magazines and on the internet and thought they were the shiznit. So in 2002 when the lancer was brought to the US, I picked one up hoping to be one of the first to have one and get it modded fairly quickly. Even though it wasn't an evo, at the time mitsu still wasn't sure if and when they were even going to release the EVO in the US, plus the price would have been a little more than what I would have been able to pay at the time. So an OZ was the closest I could get and I was satisfied. I had been into the show scene for a while and knew that in order to get noticed you need to be different, and that is one of the main reasons why I bought the car and why I still have it. I'm actually kind of glad that things worked out the way they did with the EVOs coming over here shortly after the Lancer. I think regular lancer sales would have been much higher had the EVO never been released here. That would have made me a lot less unique and that was what I was going for. Most people would expect the regular lancers to take a back seat to the EVO's at the shows but that hasn't been the case for me. Most people really respect that I am different in that I chose to mod a lancer, and yet managed to reach a level of looks and performance that can hang with EVO's at shows. It takes a lot more effort for me to reach a certain level at a show, than it does for an EVO guy since they come stock with so many top quality parts. The judges recognize this and I've had a pretty good success rate at shows. Would I rather daily drive or race an EVO than a lancer...yes. Would I rather show with an EVO, nope!

Test drove a Galant GTZ, oh my... What a change from a '95 Escort. Ran my credit, good! But, a little out of price range. Then how about those Lancers; pretty sweet look'n huh? Test drove; showed the wife (while on the clock at work) and she approved. Signed, financed, and home within 3 hours. Never looked back for a second (though more power is needed).

great story guys...I had a 91' acura integra for about 2 weeks till my dad sold it for $5000...i was so sad since it was my first lightly modified car...

I test drove a 2003 nissan sentra which really didn't get the best of me, and off to the mitsubishi dealership. There was a 2003 yellow OZ rally with only 5 miles on the odometer...i mean this came right from the cargo ship and i knew it had to be mine...everything was fulled loaded except the cargo nets and we walked out with it for $16, 500 ...this included the customer loyalty rebate and the $2000 cash back deal, i was a happy man.

Hmm mine was this. Went all over manassas and alexandria looking for a car nothing found. Then we went to Tysons Corner my father wanted me to get corolla since its my 1st car and i was like no. Then we hit this dealership called Rosenthal Nissan/Mazda. Looked at a 2004 sentra...2much then i saw it. My silver beauty it was love at 1st site we test drove and it was perfect. Then came the price the dealer tried to rip us off he was like 12000 for the car and we got it down to 10000 but it still wasnt far enough for us and my dad was like alright u just lost a customer and that car is gonna be here for months cause of your price so u might want to make some money off it. We left and 3days later he called and was like i give we came back and got it down to $8500 with taxes and everything came out to $9245. The best part was paying for the car we paid straight CASH all 9245 it took us 4hrs to get out cause the ppl cant count lol. so that is my story. A $9245 car with 23,000 miles on it.

I had a 73 VW super beetle that i bought for 1500 and was gonna do it all custom and nice. well a lady crashed into me so I sold it with damage for 1800. I wanted a late 90's style eclipse so I went looking couldnt find one in good condition anyplace in VA so I started looking at jettas. at a dealer there was a neon that the guy was pushin and a lancer es that caught my eye, although it was a little plain looking to me. While I was at school (senior year in high) my mom went and checked out mitsu dealer, I went and saw the brand new pehonix red 03 oz with 6 miles on it and had to have it. Only problem was I had to pay for it all................. so I said lets do it! its a little tough at almost 600 a month for payment and insurance but I love it!! and slowly customizing it.....

funny part was I was workin at mc'dees at the time.....every sent was payin for the car. haha. good times.
