euro spec sti 265 hp. detuned for emissions.
well i read an article somewehre i forgot but it was about a car show and the different cars it had there and then it went over each car. anyways it said the sti was detuned from 280 to 265 in europe to meet emissions so that would mean if it came to america it would be detuned even further since us emissions are the most strict. especially ca.

and since many ppl were saying that mitsubishi would not bring over the gta because it would not compete with the sti...well now the gta can since the sti wil probly have around 250 hp once it meets us emissions. so who knows...the piece of **** gta might most likely be commin....

The GT-A still wouldn't compete.....it's not a matter of HP it's a matter of all of the options that you'd have to add on to make it anywhere near the GSR or the STI.
I think we all knew that the cars would be detuned a little....it's just a matter of how much.

One big reason the US/euro cars are detuned is because of the lower rated gas that we get, compared to Japan.
We get 91 octane(Highest rating in certain states) and in Japan, their equivalent is 97 octane. That 6 octane difference makes a big deal in engine performance. The Evo ECU is smart enough to detect the octane ratings and will cut down on the boost, thus getting a lower HP rating.
Once you pump it up with 100 octane, the power is very significant and you can definitely feel it but that is so expensive...

From a supposed "insider" over at imprezawrxsti.com, it looks like the STi will have 261 HP. And of course this should be taken with a grain of salt.

I get my gas from a commercial fueling company which my dad uses for his business trucks. well i was there one day when i noticed a pump reading. 110 octane racing fuel, i was all happy then i noticed that it said LEADED! what kind of engines use leaded fuel now adays i know that along time ago they used leaded gas but didnt think they did today.
