Fram filters are made out of cardboard, Cheap rubbish. I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W30 with K&N filter every 3k miles.

mobil 1 10w-30 and mobil 1 filter, i got fram and valvoline synthetic this time cause they were out of what i wanted and i didnt want to go driving around. I figure i dont drive that hard and using the synthetic i wait till about 5000.

fram just seems like an american kind of filter to me for like mustangs and big trucks

a lot of diesel owners do not use fram oil filters because they can not hold the PSI that their engine needs. Leaks are pretty common too, the gasket could be better. I did an oil change on this guys 2.4 ralliart and their was oil shot behind the oil filter but the filter was tight. Had about 33k mi on the car.

I use royal purple 5 30 and napa gold oil filter every 3k.
also I do my own oil changes and switch out the plug and gasket every so often.

OK,

For those of you who are actually turbo. Have you guys tried running Synthetic Oil in your cars? Have you noticed and wierd side effects? I know RRM doesn't recommend it, but, for someone who's been running synthetic oil for some time now and then going turbo, will there be any significant affect to the car's engine?

The Frams are fine just make sure you check its efficiency rating. If you get a high-end fram with 99% efficiency that fits, theres not much that can go wrong. I use mobil 1 but am thinking about royal purple. i just don't know if it's worth the extra cash

how could i classify on which oil to use? i use castrol gtx 10w-30 in the summer and 5w-30 in cold days. i am on my 30k in the next month. should i still use the same viscosities during this days? and when do you usually use those others such as castrol high milage, etc? or is it fine using the same castrol GTX on the whole lifetime of my car...
thanks mrshl

10w30 or 40 . . . Valvoline or Mobil 1 for my current car.

When I had my Mitsu, I ran 1 qt 0w40 Mobil + about 3 qts of 10w40 to thicken it up a bit. Otherwise, sythblend will do. I even tried an entire oil span using using 0w40 . . .

I use whatever filter . . . I used to stay away from fram, but I got tired of driving around town finding puralator. I don't know how of you can get 6-15 bucks oil filter and toss them away with ease with each change.
