Question Radiator Fans

I noticed a few people with lancers have changed out the stock fans in front of the radiator with one massive one.
Why is this? does it keep things cooler?

i did a search and i couldnt find much.,
im just curious to why people change em out???

heh, I dont even have one, mine was off when I purchased the car. No problems though, car not over heating or anything. (maybe this is why my car doesnt blow hot air anymore. nah cant be)

But yes, bigger the fan the cooler things get in the Engine Bay. Helps with the air circulation.

Excess engine heat can cause a myriad of problems, from premature engine wear to peeling and blistered hood paint. The solution is to upgrade the cooling system of the vehicle to get rid of the heat produced by the engine performance upgrades. One of the best ways to do this is to get more air flowing through the radiator in order to remove the additional heat.

You guys already know the more fuel, air and spark added to any combustion situation, the more heat produced. The same thing happens inside an engine when you add more fuel and air and light it on fire by turning the key. More fuel, air and spark can indeed create more power, but more power can bring a corresponding rise in operating temperature.

I have found an Electronic tool by Apexi that controls Fan speeds Under the hood. " Fan Controller" I think thats what its called. Not just the radiator fan,But all of the fans, So basically the faster the fan the better air circulation aswell. 2 fans is another upgrade but make sure it fits or you'll have to do some refabrication yourself.

But if your Near Stock or N/A there should be no need to upgrade your fans unless you just want to.

Hope that helps

our car already runs 2 fans stock in front of the exhaust manifold right on the backside of the radiator. You wanna add more cooling, you can put an slip fan in the front of the radiator to throw more air towards the engine. When going turbo, we have to split the fans already inside so the turbo housing could fit. Then you gotta run a slip fan in front to replace the loss of air from fan that was removed.
