damn this never happened to me. i noticed the vents acting up thats about it.

if there is a recall does this apply to EVO's I was wondering...stupid knob should never be that hard to turn.

Being a TSB, and your car being out of warranty, it's a pretty good chance that you're outta luck on getting Mitsu to pay for it. Also, the TSB covers all Lancers through 04 that show symptoms of the problem. Unfortunately, the plenum isn't listed in the online parts catalog, so can't say how much it costs for those who want to do it themselves. Definitely not an easy job to do, which is why it costs so much. The parts are probably less than $800 total, but disassembling the entire front half of the interior, draining/refilling coolant and refridgerant, is very time consuming.

why would you have to drain the coolant because the knobs are hard to turn

Well if mitsu tells me my heat is broke they can stick it up their butt because i went out and took it apart and i found that its the metel rod piece going to the gears is bent so when i turn to heat it bends rather than turning the gear to heat. So ill end up ordering that one piece and doing the install myself most likely

when ever mine has trouble turning i let go for a second and then twist it again..... it seems to work every time for me and its not that annoying......

OMG. No offense LancerOZ Boy, but they saw the word "Dumb ***" on your forehead.

DO your research. This is a recall for the 02-03 Lancers I believe. I know it's for the 02 Lancers, but i'm still confused a little for the 03. As for the Evos, I have no clue.

Mitsubishi has a 1-800 number. Those numbers are for people to call. They will tell you the recalls on your car.

As for the ones that already broke, I had a buddy that did the same. He still went to Mits and fixed it. Why don't you guys give it a try.

Sorry to be so hard on you man, but this is life. Just trying to help you out.

By the way, We're not always notified on Recalls so there's never really a way to know unless you search or hear it from other board members.

Lucky ya, who actually got a letter in the mail notifying you of a recall....

if it stops then just wiggle it a little and it should make it all the way around. Mine isint all that bad.

Well if mitsubishi wasent such a cheap *** company there would be problems like this. I know other companys have problems too but they actually send out info on a recall not like mitsubishi where they dont tell you and then try to charge you for it.
