But then again, we're comparing ES to OZ gauges. Maybe the LEDs will emit better.

Generally speaking, yes. Usually it's between $100 and $200 from what I've heard.

I put the LED's in the OZ cluster I bought and was barely able to read outside of where the light shone. The problem with LED's is they don't diffuse enough. I would recommend autolumination.com for some cheap bulbs and possibly gels since mitsu has them overpriced. I just stuck with the good ole gel cover and bulbs in my OZ's. IMO the OZ would emit somewhat better with LED's POSSIBLY if they were new because of the concentration of light as everything is separated into it's own little area.

Also, don't forget about scraping off that film on the back of the OZ gauges to make it brighter.

#74 bulbs replace the following bulbs:17 18 37 70 73 79 85 86 2721

Introducing the Tri-Power 3 LED Bulb

The Widest, 3x Brightest and Best #74 Leds Ever Made!

Designed especially for gauges, and applications requiring a large uniform field of bright light

Bulbs are 3/4" (20mm) x 3/8 (10mm)" diameter at widest point with T5mm base to fit standard #74 or #37 sockets.

Do they sound like they'll fit the OZ's gauge cluster? It says it'll fit a standard #74 socket, and with the 3 led, I'm sure it'll disperse light much better. However, I am curious if the led end will fit through the opening in the cluster.

The Super Star model under the ones you mentioned are similar with the diamond patterned LED emitter and should be a little smaller. Just remember to buy the twist lock bases with them if you don't want to dissect the stock bulbs. They're a little bit longer but if they don't hit anything on the inside, which I doubt they would, they would distribute more as the plastic diamond diffuser shaped instruments inside the cluster would be more around or behind the LED's.

Those suckers are $5 a pop, lol. I checked out Lightrikz for the gels, and he doesn't have blue.

Xshieldsx,

When you put in your red cluster kit from light trix, did you get your face plate changed by him as well? I understand it makes a difference concerning light diffusion, however expensive.

You can DIY. Just take an Exacto and carefully scrape the film off.

Ok, so I'm a perfectionist, blame my dad for that ****. At any rate, I just got a new head unit along with some other audio goodies today, arrived UPS. The head unit is all blue, but my OZ has a red cluster and everything else is generic white.

Things that I would like to change to match my head unit.

Map lights, cluster, HVAC, and auto shifter light.

What would be my best course of action?

Get the gels for everything or what?

EDIT: What are the bulb types/numbers in the '06 OZ Rally? I really have no clue what to do when it comes to lighting in cars, I understand there's a structured system of bulbs and LEDs.

LOL that's why I'm going blue too. My Pioneer is nothing but blue.

I got a Lightrikz HVAC kit in blue, but I'm still trying to figure out what bulbs I need for the gauge from those websites. ^^^.

Pretty sure the cluster bulbs are #192 or anything that replaces those. Don't have the list on my computer at work and will try to look at it and verify once I get home, late night. I didn't shave the OZ cluster yet and probably will do so because it still isn't as bright as my other interior lights.

Do a search for lancer bulbs and under one of the results is a long post how-to type deal of someone who took all the bulbs out and replaced them with detail on how to remove each part to access each bulb.

I thought that the cluster bulbs were the same for es and the oz. lightrikz was like the first place i checked out and was this close to putting the order through for the blue led kit but then i saw that it was a little more hassle than i thought because they send you a new set of needles but and u have to send them your stock ones bk and also you have to buy a new face plate for your gauge cluster because with the stock one you barely get any blue light through. so i figured instead of that i'll just change everything like the cluster HVAC and the auto shifter
