Body Kit Questions
well right now i have a 03 OZ Ralley lancer, ill post some pics soon but. i have like 2 question about buying body kits. 1st off, once u buy the body kit and it comes in, could u install it by urself? and my 2nd question is do u have to paint it, or is it already pre-painted? these are two questions i need to know the answers to before i get my bodykit purchase, thx guys.

i aint a mod but this is in the wrong section. for the first question some are perfect fits and can be done by urself. Others may need some fitment modifications. for the 2nd question, i think they come primered? and not painted, But dont take my word for it. Maybe someone with more knowledge will answer.

You can totally install one yourself, heck...I did! Haven't seen one come painted, manly for liability reasons. Hard to keep them in perfect condition during shipment. They come with a sandable gel coat, kinda like a primer I guess; but I'd throw some primer on there anyways.

Why is this in engine management, it has nothing to do with tuning. As said, some kits require work to fit properly. None come pre-painted, it's too much a risk for the shipper. You should all around to see how much it'll cost, in some places you can get it for cheap, in other places it's expensive.

Where are you getting the kit from? Accolade's come primered and usually have pretty decent fitment (some can argue this, but that's not what the thread is about, so don't). And most auto body and paint shops can install body kits. Let me know when you get the kit. I might be able to find a place that can do it for pretty cheap. Plus I wanna see it when it's done.

yeah body kits would come primed but you would have to find a shop that would install and paint. If you haven`t done anything like it have it done. I`m getting a kit and installing my self and having it proffesionally painted.

When I did mine and most people I know.. I got it sent to my house. I prepped the bumper to make the body work cheaper. Prepped it by sanding and filling any cracks. Then I completely fitted the bumper. Drilled all the holes. mounted all the screws. test drove it. Then I drove my car to the shop with the bumper on. They took it off, painted it and put it back on. This was all within a couple days. Dont drive around for weeks with an unpainted bumper please. lol

If it's already on, they'll take it off, paint and put it back on. Easiest that way, so that the work they did doesn't get screwed up installing after paint. It's a matter of having already fitted and drilled the holes for it to mount. Like a few people already said, I wouldn't want to pay someone to paint a kit, then screw up the paint while I'm fitting and installing it.
