NO.

You're on idle and not pressing the gas so it has no output/showing any info on the gauge... so its at zero (or the very far left of the bar)

P.S. ive done 35mpg from LA to Vegas. Feathered the throttle all the way.

That is pretty crappy fuel economy. Even right off the start(25kms) my tank lasted somewhere into the low 400's I believe.

ZEN- which dealer are you going to? I would highly recommend north shore mitsubishi, had nothing but great service there, but they know I am a certified heavy duty tech, so maybe that makes the difference when you know as much as them sometimes :P

You will never believe me, but exactly North Van Dealer )
Now I wanna try Vancouver Dealer, maybe they are different.

I think it's just bad luck with this car, but at least the service should do something.

If they will not fix this problem, I'm thinking to trade my car with a Subaru Impreza or Saturn Astra (Opel Astra actually and is made in Belgium).

yeah the only way I would see that fuel consumption would be pedal to the metal all the time....not necessarily high speed or rpm's but putting it to the floor and making quick shifts could do it, but if you are just feathering it, then yes something is definitely wrong. I would record your kilometers and fill ups for a little bit then take it to north shore mitsu and mention my name if you feel like.

Cam Capek, 2008 Blue GTS

Tell them you talked to me and I have a license in mechanics and I witnessed first hand your driving skills, and you km's per tank. Talk to John, he knows me. Well knows my car at least, but we have chatted.

If they don't want to agree there is a fuel consumption issue, then yeah take it to another dealer.

Well idk if this helps you out but on our altima the instantaneous mpg reads maxed out when coasting or stopped. In other words it shows i'm getting around i think 50 mpg when coasting or stopped. my friends old acura mdx did the same so i'm guessing its normal.

I'm not driving this way. I'm trying not to push pedal to the metal. I know very well this, and still the consumption is high

Thanx for the advice.

your Lancer is activly calculating fuel economy even though your car is idling or even at the time when your first start it in park and its reset.

I beleive there was only one update around DEC time that made a changes to the calculation but its very accurate.

Canadian model. They started it when they ran out of GTS cars. It's kinda like halfway between the ES and GTS packages.
