Door light wiring?
i'm trying to put some custom door lights at the bottom end of my doors like how some cars come stock with and they light up whenever u open the door. i was wondering where i could splice the wire for it cus i could take it from where the dome light is but i don't wanna run it outside the headliner. i could do it from inside the headliner but i never taken it out before and don't even know how to or how hard it is. please help me out guys

you should be able to pick up the wire (that triggers the dome light) in the driver's side kick panel wiring harness.
If I can find where I have all of that written down at, I could tell you what color and polarity. Let me see if I can find it.

Ok, so here it is...
The light that triggers the dome light:
- White
- Can be found in the drivers kick panel, and I actually traced it up to the plug in the bottom of the fuse box
- Is negative polarity, which means if you wire up a relay to power your lights, you will use this configuration...
85- Constant power input (+)
86- Connection to White trigger wire (-)
87- Power output to your lights (+)
87a- No connection
30- Constant power input (+)
Then you will just ground the negative (-) wire on your lights. That will enable you to have the relay click on when the doors are open, which will in turn send the power to your lights to make them turn on.
Hope that helps you out.
*edit*
If you don't want to use a relay, or are just too cheap to spend $4 for a little safer install...
You can (although I don't recommend it) hook this up without a relay by just hooking the positive input up to a constant (+) and then connect your ground (-) wire from the light to the white trigger wire.
If you are only using 1 light, you should be ok with no relay. However, if you are using a light on each door (as I would expect), you really should spring a few buck for a relay, fuse holder, and a few connectors. It will work much better, and safer, that way.
