I got 36 mpg today on a 1.5 hour drive back into Pittsburgh. I had it close to 38 on the home stretch, but a couple of hills killed me. My mpg is about 25 since I bought the car in Nov 07... that's what the MMCS tells me at least. Not sure how accurate it is, I've never calculated it myself.

im almost getting 28 mpg in my evo

those with evo9`s if you have not gone to crazy with the modding of your cars i have been working on a tune for my car with the stock turbo and a few addon parts and have been able to achieve 28mpg on the hwy and about 20 around town. Im not sure how some of you are getting your fuel mileage readings, but if its a a part of the factory metering system those can be highly inaccurate!. the best way to measure is to use you odometer and measuring the exact amount of fuel you put in your car on fill ups.

1. fill your car
2. reset your odometer to zero
3. drive your call till you need gas again
4. fill your car again read total gallons of fuel
5. look at your odometer mileage

then take total miles and divide that by how may gallons of fuel needed to fill your car. this will give you a much more accurate MPG reading.

ex: 391miles / 13.72 gallons = 28.498 mpg this was my mileage this weekend

i know the MPG display in my 2005 nissan maxima off by 4 mpg

It varies a LOT:

In the city, street-street driving, I get about 13-15 mpg.
In stop-go traffic, I get 12-14 mpg.
In slow rolling traffic, I get 14-16mpg.
In suburban driving, 17-20mpg.
On the freeway, cruise control @ ~65mph, I get around 27-28mpg.
On the freeway, cruise control @ ~75mph, I get around 25-26mpg.

So on a trip, I can get anywhere from 12 to 28mpg.

I check my gas mileage this way every single time I fill up and I always get between 29 and 31 mpg city. Thats with NO highway driving. My best ever has been 31.6mpg.

I always check MPG in my Talon and the Lancer. Talon gets 24-28mpg with roughly 300awhp. The Lancer has seen a best of 32mpg stock except for a cone filter. Ive sine removed that filter for the stock set up again. But it was averaging 28mpg with just the filter added.

Yesterday I drove from Gainesville, FL to Spring Lake, NC. The last reading of that trip yielded 371 Miles for 13.15 gallons.

That's over 28MPG on my 495WHP car. I'm actually getting better fuel economy with well over twice the horsepower my car came with!

I dont know how you guys are all getting such poor gas mileage. I always check every fill and I have always gotten around 35 mpg. 30 if I put my foot in it. Best was 38-39 mpg. Checking helps me diagnose if something is wrong with my car too, like if Im getting poor mileage, somethings wrong.
