With the support of so much money going into a 4g94 i would already think more practical and switch platforms. I would rather get a better bang for my buck then having the right of saying I have an out of the ordinary lancer (rather spend it on getting an evo and hanging out with the big boys). just my 2 cents.

Something else to consider, how often does that 500 HP Mirage break?

well i for one will not give up on our lancers i think our cars are capable of alot of power and if i never went with a dohc conversion i would prove it that our sohc engines can make those number without spending $50000 this mirage here has custom fab work which may cost more than just direct bolt on parts but there is always ebay to me what really cost us money is our bottom end which alone is 1300 for pistons and rods but my point is that i feel our cars can make these numbers w/o dumping 50000 i think maybe 15000 is more reasonable if you get everything name barnd parts and professionally done.

here is one point u just have to shop around campared to the aem ecu which is 1400 you can get a megasquirt 2 ecu for 600 that's 800 bucks saved and that is one of the most if not the most essential mod you will need to make those numbers

You don't build a reliable and powerful car using Ebay parts, I'm sorry but that's nuts. 15000$ will just get you started, you can spend 15000$ on just the motor if you do it right (ie. you want to do more than one dyno run). I would suspect that for 500 HP the entire bottom end would need to be built. I'm not talking just rods and pistons, I'm talked about cylinder sleeves and everything. That would be a custom job. The head would need to be completely build with custom parts again (cam, valves, valve springs, port and polished head, etc). From here you'd have the intake side of things (custom intake manifold, custom throttle body), the exhaust side of things (custom downpipe and exhaust system, probably just straight off the downpipe), all the piping and of course the turbo system and probably nitrous system too. With this the tranny would need to be custom built since there's no way the lancer tranny can handle 500 HP. You'd want a LSD thrown in at the same time. The axles would have to be custom made, the STI is known for snapping axles when it makes big power and I can tell you that the STI has way beefier axles than the lancer. There's also all the wiring which isn't cheap, to put it into perspective, just the wiring harness for a WRC car is over 100000$. At the end of the day you'd also have just a dyno queen, you're naive if you think a 500 HP FWD car is anything close to a decent daily driver.

even once you get an evo you're not calling it a day...far from it, how much more do those owners spend on their cars on top of what it cost plus maintenance and insurance is more than our lancers
