Muffler Question

Hello guys, I am new to the forum and just wanted to ask a simple question.

I have an 09 Lancer ES (Black) pretty much stock, the muffler looks wimpy and I wanted to put a more aggressive muffler on it, but... I do not want it to make the noise every time I rev or accelerate (Im shooting blind here because I do not know much about car customization) I was looking around at Auto City Imports Lancer 08+ Parts and Accessories I scrolled down to Universal Parts and Mufflers Universal and saw what I thought were some good deals. But turns out that those mufflers most around ~$80 USD are what I would call "make noise mufflers," at least thats what someone told me

In the end what I am trying to find out is where in Miami or in the internet if nobody knows can I get just the tip of the muffler or end of the muffler or something, to make it look nicer, I do not know what is the name for the part, if anybody could help me out I would appreciate it.

Also, the reason I dont want a muffler that makes more noise is because I have a stereo in my car and its not gonna be for racing or anything I just in the future want to make it look nicer than it is, and be able to enjoy my music, without any muffler noise.

and BTW this stickfigure looks wrong... I dont wanna know what he just broke.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Well to be honest Any aftermarket muffler will have some kind of decibl increase as most of them try to become more free flowing and less restrictive to give your car better performance. I would say if your really not looking for somthing performance wise just get a universal muffler (most of those look just like the ones on ebay you can get for $25) and have a muffler shop wheld it on to your liking and leave the silencer which most of them supply inside the muffler. I know on Evos that silencer will kill performance but im not sure if it would really have an impact on a lancer. just my .02

Well the only reason I have been looking at that site is because it is the site that I have found with the most parts for the lancer, do not know any better ones yet.

Anyways I had a Galant 00 until it broke down last year and instead of paying the price of the car to fix it I just bought an 09 lancer ES and I had 2 10" subs installed with an 800 watt amp which I have moved over to this car and I changed all the speakers in my car to the point if the volume is up you pretty much go crazy driving with the windows up.

But I have only heard these mufflers on other cars, never been inside a car that has one. And I do want to change it but how loud would it get? and now that you mention it, what will a good muffler give me performance wise.

Edit: I just realized I probably posted this in the wrong part of the forum so yea...

Maybe so lol but none the less its still a question that needs some kind of direction. Check on ebay the for mufflers for the 09 lancer ES just kind of like a universal fit, use the specifications from the web site so you can get the right sizes. These mufflers with the stock cat and resonators will not be much louder than stock, but much louder to me might be different to you. Your prob. not goin to see much gains from just a muffler to really be able to make any power you will have to make the exhaust even more free flowing like adding a high flow cat or test pipe and getting rid of the resonators. So unless you want to spend that kind of money plus that WILL make the car alot more aggressive sounding/louder but doing just a muffler might not net you much if anything

allright man thanks for the quick/detailed response. I am going to look into it, any brands you would personally recommend or want me to stay away from. And would a dual tip be twice as loud? (in the future, if I were to spend the money)

I would stay away from the dual tip, keep things clean your on the right path trying to beef up the looks of the lancer just dont over do it, its a fine line with any car between Right and rice lol but yeah really any muffler will work just for the right size and what not and its hard to really mess up a muffler (even though some will disagree)

easiest thing to do is go to a local auto body shop, and they have plenty of stock mufflers in stock, im pretty sure they wont be expensive
