Question get the CEL code

does this apply to the 4G64 engine of the lancer?
http://www.batauto.com/mitsu.html
it's a trick to get the CEL code, I also saw this:
Start with the ignition off. Within five seconds, switch the key on,
off, on, off, on. (On is not start!)

The "check engine" light will flash. Count the flashes Each code is a
two digit code, so a (for example) 23 would be FLASH FLASH <pause> FLASH
FLASH FLASH <loong pause>

It will never flash more than 9 times, watch for pauses!
55 is end of codes, 33 is normal if you dont have air conditioning.

When the computer indicates major failure, it will activate Limp In
mode, which substitutes guesses for data to compensate for sensor
failure.

If mine ever goes on I'll try that then getting the code pulled to confirm/deny that.

Neat trick if it works.

it seems it is for old mitsu, 95 and lower, all the 96+ use something called OBDII and you need a little interface between the plug and your PC, and a little software to analyze the code, some are freeware, take a look at www.batauto.com

There's also this: www.pocketlogger.com

One of the DSM guys told me about it. Seem relevant enough.

Yeah, my friend used OBDII on his old 1g DSM I believe. Fun stuff.
