I wanted to include a pic just to be clear which body style I was talking about. Unending mods available and starting off with a great stock product. They can be hard to find but ebay almost always has a couple listed.

What are some common problems to look for when buying one? Either a GS-T or a GS-X?

Only common problem I've heard about is crank walk. Check out some eclipse forums or just search google to find out more about it. From what I remember the problem was with the original factory installed part (bearing I think), basically like a bad lot of that part or something. But once it's fixed it's good to go. Not cheap, but if you find one that's already had it done than you don't have to worry about it. Otherwise, if you find one that hasn't had the problem yet it may be in the clear. Most of these cars are already up in miles a little ways. I think most commonly this problem was hitting around 70k miles. Don't quote me on all of this, it's been more than a year since I researched this.

Well i'm doing a swap.. so thru research i know a lil something about eclipses... CRANK WALK is the only issue... This only happens in the 2G eclipse.. Alot of eclipse guys swap the engine to a 1g or they just put a 1g Head on top of the 2g.... the engine that i bought happens to be a JDM 1g (thank god!!.. so we'll see what happens) But also if i could do it over again id find a GSX.... (screw the GST.. AWD is the way to go!)

He was talking about vtec "E" not normal vtec. But yes B series is better or maybe even K?

And spend $8k doing it... It would be quick. There is a guy locally with a k20 swapped coupe that is running 8.0 in the 1/8 mile.

I read your question and won't bother reading 3 pages worth of replies. Sorry if it's been posted already.

Kepp your Civic. And that comes from a guy who currently owns a Delsol and a Lancer. The Lancer looks better, I'll give you that, but it will never haul @ss like a Civic can. There are plenty of D series out there that push well over 200 whp on stock internals. According to people on here, you won't see that happen in a Lancer.

A Lancer needs load of cash to make it somewhat quick. That same amount of money would swap a Bsomething in your Civic and you'd still have money left for bolt ons.
