Ebay Turbo?

I was just wondering if buying a JDM eBay turbo is smart or dumb.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TD05-...spagenameZWDVW

they seem cheep but will they be the same as a turbo going to 400 or something?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-99...ayphotohosting

or is this a good deal it seems cheep but it has all nessery parts so is it bad??? im not saying i want to buy the cheep stuff but is there a difference?

Just remember, you get what you pay for! But they have been good & bad stories about "Ebay" turbos...one coming locally from my friend with a turbo Del Sol. Ebay turbo with 50k+ miles on it just started blowing oil past the seals and sent it in to be rebuilt with all Garrett parts. $150 later he has an Ebay cast turbo with Garrett internals...still on the car right now!

do not buy that turbo! i repeat, do not buy that turbo! 90% of cases when people buy cheap budget items to try to save money, they wind up having to spend even more to get the damn thing to work efficiently, if even at all possible. if your going to do something, please do it right with no regrets

I highly suggest you start by doing some readings like the FAQ in my sig. At the moment it's pretty clear you're not sure what's out there, what's good, what's bad and what's actually involved in turboing your car. In general, you get what you pay for. A member on here bought an ebay turbo and is now replacing it after a less than ideal life (I believe it blew after dynoing the car).

Well you'll need the turbo itself, a manifold, fuel system (pump, FMU, injectors, whatever you decide to use), intercooler, piping, wastegate, BOV, hoses, clamps, etc. 16g is a good turbo but if you don't know what you're doing, don't build your own kit.

ok yea its not really smart to do im not gonna install it myself if i can get the basics down then i can bring it to a shop and ask them to do the rest and just pay them for what i might be missing. Im trying not to rush. I am either gonna buy rims and tires in jan or save for a turbo by spring its alot to understand i guess i have to really read on each part of a turbo and see what i need...

thanks i realize im a noob just trying to learn some things and not screw up to bad

the ebay turbo i posted up to he has 100% positive feedback for a few hundred turbo kits sold. and he has over 3000 buyers is it still bad to trust that. Even if you buy some name brand stuff to add on. And does that kit fit on my car cause it says 4G63 application. My car is 4G94 if im understanding this right.

If it says 4G63 application it won't fit.

Do a goole search on ssautochrome and their china turbos they sell on ebay. The biggest story is about a turbo falling apart, the glue holding the housings didn't work well. You heard it , GLUE.

It seems that more recently the quality improved slightly, but I still would not trust a China Turbo.
