How do i replace the front wheel bearings on an 03 es
The front right hub bearings are bad in my 03 es. I searched the forum and couldnt find any thread on how to do this. I ordered a new bearing from pepboys and i have no idea how difficult it is to remove the old one and install the new one. Would i be able to remove the old bearings and install the new ones without any type of press. What tools would i need and is it even worth doing myself. If there is a good possibility that i could screw something up i would just take it to a mechanic and have them do it. thanks

Yes, a press is definitely required. If you want to save some money, remove the steering knuckle (unbolt the axle, ball joint, and strut) and take that to a shop around lunch time. Don't go in the front door but instead find a guy who's a mechanic or machinist there and just offer him $30 to replace the bearing in the knuckle. That will save a bunch of money over doing it the "official" way.

You have to pull the hub assembly first, then there is a lock ring that needs to be removed on the back side. These lock rings can be extremely difficult to remove as they tend to rust and freeze up. After that the old bearings can be pressed out and the new ones pressed in. I recommend getting a new lock ring instead of using the old (usually the old one is prettty mangled from removing it). Then just reinstall the hub assembly.
