Road Race Intake CVC Smog Sticker

Road Race Intake CVC Smog Sticker
Just last night I got pulled over by the police. They said my car was too loud. They asked me if i had changed the exhaust. I told them it was stock. They asked me to pop open the hood, and when I did, they saw the road race intake that I had put in. They said the intake did not have a CVC Smog sticker that comes with many of the aftermarket brands such as AEM, HKS, etc. They wrote me up a ticket but told me if i could prove by the court date that the intake is legal, they would let it go.
So my question is: Is the intake legal? Is there anything i can print out proving its legal?

Again, call RRM. There's nothing we can do for you because it's all about whether or not RRM had the intake smog-tested. If they didn't, you pay the ticket because you had an illegal part.

In the state of California, after market engine mods need to be approved by the "California Air Resource Board" (C.A.R.B. certified) in order for them to be "SMOG"/street legal. This is my #1 reason for wanting the Injen CAI, and the reason it will be the intake I get for my car. The Injen CAI has a CARB Approved sticker/plate on it. The same goes for any of the DIY full exhaust kits out there; so far the Injen SES exhaust is the only one that is CARB Certified, but it's so costly that I may just have a custom exhaust made... if I ever decide to replace the entire exhaust.
Since you have already been written up for the part, you should have the option of going seeking out a State "Referee" to let them inspect your car and give you a certificate that legalizes you to use your car with the mods currently on it. That is assuming your car passes the emissions test, which you should since the intake just lets the car breath better, and doesn't interfere with the exhaust emissions equipment.
If you're intake did not come with CARB approval documentation, then it's likely that it was never submitted/reviewed for CARB Certification, and therefore illegal for street use in the state of California.
Since the intake is not CARB Certified, your best option is to hit up a State Referee and have them judge whether your intake is causing your car to pollute more than normal.
I'm not 100% familiar with the Refereeing process. So, contact your local DMV office to get details on having your car Refereed. I know there is a fee involved with the process, but if you REALLY want to run your car with all the mods you have on it, you're going to have to have your car Refereed. Like I said earlier, if you only have the intake on the car, then you shouldn't have a problem passing the Referee emissions test.
