My original fog lamps were stolen, and I am going to buy the OEMs again to replace them for insurance purposes. Down at the Mitsubishi dealer they told me that to install the fog lights again, they have to reprogram something. Is this true? What do I have to do to re-install my fog lamps?

Sounds like b/s to me too, there are instructions for replacing bulbs in your manual. says nothing about reprogramming anything. do not touch the bulb with your bare hand. the oil from your fingers will damage the bulb when it heats up and it will burn out.

no no, do it, pay to have it done, just make sure they document everything they are doing... EVERYTHING.. then send it to the head office and ask them.. hmmm what is this...
if your insurance is paying the bill it doesnt matter, if you nail a dealership for making stuff up, thats pricesless
sorry to hear about the stolen fogs

Oh man, thanks to all of you. Well, the only thing that made sense was the fact that the fog light switch is temporary, enabling a relay elsewhere to maintain voltage, but still the reprogramming thing seems kinda dumb.
Well, one day I woke up and noticed the front air dams and the fog lights were missing. Then another day I woke up and noticed I had missing side sill extensions. This, and jobless, divorce in progress, and some other disgraces here and there. But you gotta be optimist and hope for the best.
Anyways, I'll order the OEM fog lamps. If you guys have any knowledge of some site that sells all these OEM accesories at the cheapest prices, let me know if you can.
Thanks!

Man that sucks what's happening to your car. I sort of know how you feel, I just got my car keyed last week, and it pisses me off that someone did that to my car. It was a couple teenagers, they ended up messing up another 35 cars in the area and got caught by the police. (they probably got a slap on the rist)
Anyway, with your fogs and side sills missing, it sounds like someone with a DE is playing dressup. If i were you, i would wait a bit to pay your deductable untill a short time passes. If the police don't catch them, I'm sure they will be back for your spoiler and wheels. No sense on paying the deductable twice.

Oh, yeah. Totally agree with that. I'll just install the parts, get the money, and take them off. I'll save them for when I change the car to something else in the future.

That is BS. I would go back to the dealer when the waiting room and write up area is packed with people and have them clarify what needs to be done then call them out on it. cause a scene.
We install OEm fogs all the time and I have never heard of this.
