AC control bulb replacement
So the two bulbs that light up the AC/air control knobs and buttons are out and I need new ones. The bulbs aren't marked, local parts shops have bulbs that will technically fit but seem too bright and hot. They stock 2 of differing power and I don't know if either is correct. Some of the plastic in that area looks a little melted already, so I don't want to turn the heat up even more. Does anyone have an exact replacement or should I head off to the dealer?

Same as what you would have to do to replace the stereo...
Remove all three air control knobs. If you never have, these might be tough to pull off. Don't twist and grind them off, be gentle because they are attached to plastic stems. Don't want to break those. They pull straight out.
Below the right and left larger knob stems are screws. Remove both.
Now pry the whole plastic dash piece from the bottom edge. This is the piece that surrounds that control area, and goes up and around the stereo. It will just pull out because it's now only snapped in now that those 2 screws are out.
Around the knob stems is a clear plastic frame-like piece that's held with 2 screws as well as the AC button bank that's held with 2 more. Remove all 4. The button bank will pull away, then the plastic frame will as well. Two bulbs are then visible. Mine had little blue condom looking rubbers on them. You might find the plastic frame has melted a little around the bulbs. That distorted plastic is what was causing one of mine to flicker because it was pushing on the bulb. The other was just burned out. I'm having to cut away a little of that melted plastic so it won't touch the bulb.
The bulbs just plug in. No screwing them.

Ok, the part number for dealer is:
Part # MR568787 and costs around $4 each
Generic bulb that's compatible is a "74" and those can be had in standard bulbs and LED in various colors.
These guys have them pretty cheap: http://www.superbrightleds.com/
