Exhaust Questions !

Hey, I have a 05 lancer Es auto. I had a cat back exhaust on it and it sounded nice and kind of deep. But recently I had headers put on my dad got them of ebay and they cam with a down pipe, and now it has a fart cannon / ricey sound and its kind of annoying. If I get bigger piping from the down pipe back or maybe a new exhuast tip will it change the sound or is it cause of the ebay header we got for it.

Let me know what I can do Please.

any aftermarket header/dp combo will be louder like that with a catback.. you could get a resonator welded into the exauhst piping after the dp and that shd kill the fart canon sound shd be less annoying

Not sure what type of Exhuast but I think it a flowmaster. But someone else told me that a resinator would help but when I had the Cat back put on I got him to take the resinator off. Also how quiet will it make it, I like how loud it is just not the fart canon sound.

I apriciate the info.

What is the inlet/outlet sizes of the headers, catalytic converters, and the muffler? Also, does the cat back exhaust system have mandel (smooth) bends, or a crumple bend?

Its a Ebay header so not sure of the inlet / outlet sizes and there is only the second cat but there is crumble bends in the cat back pipe? Could that be causing some of that sound?

Flowmaster is likely the muffler not the catback, I could be wrong but i don't believe they make a bolt on catback. Resonator will help but face it you have a 4 cyl car which is an econobox at that. A resonator and perhaps a Hi-Flow cat will deepen it up but it will still be loud. I personally like how mine sounds despite how loud it is. I have RRM turbo mani, Hi Flow Cat, Mag Reson, Mag Muffler.

Yea I think the guy who did my cat back exhaust just use the stock pipe and took the resonator off.
