I have been looking at all of the options out there for the Lancer for our tail lights and I really wish they made a tail light that looked like the Evo 8 MR tails. Right now I have the cf TYC tails and am kinda bored with them cause they look like every other TYC tail, but in a different shaped housing..... So today I decided to sell them to a local guy so that I can start my newest project.

I just ordered a pair of cf Depo tails for my car no more than 30 minutes ago, knowing already what I am going to do to them the second they arive!

Here is the plan. I am going to make the cf Depo's look like the Evo 8 MR's!

Look closer.......they have the same layout and almost the same exact look...

So here's the deal:
I am going to take the white long part of the Depo tail located across the bottom and make a pattern and tint it with amber transparent vinyl. If all goes well, they should be pretty good looking and maybe give us regular lancers a chance at having a pair of tails that look exactly like the infamous MR's!!!

Lemme know wacha think of the idea, and I will post before and after pics as soon as I get them in!!!

I personally like the look of the Evo 8 MR tail lights... im not quite sure about what other people think (which is why I am posting this thread), but then again I dont do thing just because its the "new" thing everyone is doing. I try to be one of the few who come up with a new idea here and there and then see if it catches on to the rest of the lancer owners or not.

I actually have alreaady done that this past weekend to my headlights!!! That is what inspired me to do my tails!!!!

^ dude wtf u doing painting that orange strip on ur headlights? urs is stock headlights, that non-functional blank orange strip down there is just gonna look like crap.

besides, the whole MR taillights thing, that's not a crazy idea, a whole lot of ppl on the forums have already been wanting to do the same thing...

btw, for the TDM headlights thing, instead of painting the orange strip, we've a better idea coming up.

Well, I have never personally heard of anyone wanting to do this so I posted it up. If other people wanted to they would have by now. And the vinyl I used IS a functional addition to my front end. Since I have a Ken front end, there are no amber reflectors anywhere on the front at all, and in Mass it is equired. The vinyl is a transparent amber that is reflective so it takes the functionality of the stock amber reflectors that come on the stock front end. And Obviously you didnt read that I am NOT PAINTING my lights......its a piece of vinyl.

i am gonna get the depo lights and tint the larger portion of the light and leave the blinker clear/// can anyone fotoshop this for me so i can see how this looks.... and as for the orange i dea i hate orange,,, i do thats why i got cf reflectors so i wouldnt do it...but i gotta say this is an original idea...i guess. so "do it" (ben stiller)

I have those tails on my car, and was thinking about the same thing earlier tonight. I think it would look sweet and balance things out (that chrome reflector is just too bright in contrast, y'know?) Lemme know when you get something out.
