Injen Heat Shield Air Duct Discussion

Discuss how you guys came out while using my tutorial. Any tips/suggestions for anyone? How it can be done better/easier? What does everyone think of it?

Great write up. I'm planning to get the injen SRI and do the same to the heat shield. seen it on other guys lancers so I wanted to do the same to mine. Only thing was, I wasn't really sure how to do it....hahaha...but thanks to this, I'm sure it should be pretty simple.

Nice tutorial, I've got the Injen SRI too, and that tutorial makes me want to do that now, all I need is the stock ram air tube since I got rid of mine

Dremel is easy!! It takes less skill than putting on the intake.. lol. Just draw the outline on the heat shield and then cut it out. When you use that cutting tool for the dremel, just hold onto the dremel tight and take your time cutting thru the metal in the shape of that oval tube thing. I dare you to try this. lol. Its simple though, seriously. Also the dremel is a good tool to have. Just when you think you don't need one you will run into some stupid project where it would be the best option.. like cutting off a rusted bolt. It will do it in less than 20 sec.

I had safety glasses on.. but those sparks don't bother me. They are so small. Once and a while you'll catch a hot one. If you're worried about it, wear a long sleeve shirt, but be prepared to have holes burned in it. lol.

I'm working on this right now, I didn't have any sand paper handy so I went ahead and painted it bare, i'll probably end up paying for that though.

it's hanging up for the first coat to dry, i can see it running already so i know it's going to take a few coats ( it's also like 35 degrees )
