Got ? about Guages

What are the 3 most have guages besides the boost guage? And what is better mechanical or electric guages? And why is it better? What brand would you go with? Thanx

You'll get varying opinions, but I feel these are most important:

Wide-band O2 sensor with Air/Fuel ratio gauge
Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT, Pyrometer)
Boost or Boost/Vacuum
Oil Pressure

Mechanical gauges will always be more accurate because they are reading straight off whatever they are reading. Electrical gauges use a sending unit, which directly reads whatever is to be read, then send an electrical current to the gauge. This is more inaccurate because the signal can vary and degrade while it moves down the wire to the gauge.

Any guage that measures a fluid, you will want to get electrical so you don't have hot oil squirting into your face if the gauge or hose breaks. I think EGT only comes in electrical since it uses a probe to measure temperature, but I could be wrong. For boost get a mechanical gauge.

Those are the 3 I would go for as well. Next on the list would also be Air/Fuel ratio, but that gauge can get annoying after a while so it's up to you!

Air/Fuel gauges are useless without a wideband O2 sensor. EGT is more accurate to tell you your air/fuel ratio than a regular Air/Fuel ratio gauge.

So mechanical boost gauges are more accurate than electric boost gauges? Isn't it the other way around? Any more opinions on this? Please enlighten me, i'm thinking about getting a boost gauge but cannot decide on electrical or mechanical.
