Tip on trunk debadge + pics of my ride!
Sup everyone! Got bored and debadged my trunk today, but i took a few extra steps and the results were awesome.
first, i followed the trunk debadge found here.
http://www.mypron.com/pages/trunkdebadge.htm
After i completed that, i still had some stubborn outlines left from the 3 years of dirt/road grime. I then got some 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper, and some 3M Extra Fine rubbing compound.
I started with the 1500, lightly wet sanding some of the more noticeable outlines, and then resanded with the 2000 grit sandpaper (Be sure not to sand too hard, you just want to take off the dirt buildup, not your clearcoat!), Then applied the 3M rubbing compound to the sanded areas, And finished it off with a good coat of wax.
The results were awesome! The areas that i sanded and buffed are now the smoothest and most shiny parts of the car! makes me want to wetsand the whole car, lol. Best of all there is no evidence that the beadges were ever there, not even any color difference.
For a newer lancer you probably dont need to sand after you debadge, But if you have some stubborn outlines i thought this would be a helpful hint.
Now for some pics of my ride! Lemme know what you think.
Warning: big pics!
