I retract my previous statements about baking your valve cover.

Today I painted my strut brace, valve cover and that SRI bracket I made. My wife suggested that I bake the valve cover, per the can's instructions (1200 deg, ceramic impregnated- very nice blue), I thought it couldn't hurt. Bad idea. The oil that's left on the cover fumes off leaving a cloud of black smoke in the kitchen. In addition it discolored the openings of all the holes and the paint went from a very nice deep blue to a much lighter shade. After cooling another quick coat helped, but it'll need at least one more good one.

Question annodized?

hey all, just reading the posts about painting the valve cover, I just got a 03 OZ in yellow and I think i'd like to get somethin pretty goin under the hood. How exactly do you annodize something i.e, the valve cover and can i do it in yellow? If someone could post how they have done it i'd really appeciate it. Peace all.

I saw purple anodized at the auto store....that WOULD look pretty cool if that's what you're goin for. I couldn't resist and picked up a can of blue.....I'll try it out this week. I got the recommended adhesive promoter too.

you can get blue, yellow or red anodize paint from duplicolor.com

they have a two step for plastic parts and a one step for preped chrome or polished surfaces, works good looks good too, but not as good as a pro anodized powdercoated job!!!
