oh man, that's rough!

you're like the fourth guy i've talked to besides myself who has had the front end of their lancer screwed up. people have got to learn how to drive so they can stop messing up our cars!

ksport is nice, i like the techsports best of all though. i have a little scrape on my bumper, that's going to have to be taken care of professionally... when i have money again.

i just got my RRM headlights in the mail! woohoo! the impact bent part of the support near the radiator where the headlight is attached with a third screw... naturally i snapped this bolt when removing the stock headlight. grr. this will need to be drilled and re-tapped sometime in the near future. until then the headlights look great and fit pretty good. i may end up drilling and tapping sometime tomorrow if i have nothing better to do. i just plain don't like re-tapping stuff.

my hood went out today, too... so hopefully i should be getting it this week. that's mostly wishful thinking though. it will probably arrive monday. i start my new job on tuesday so it would be nice to have my car fixed by then.

good news about the ralliart grille though! i thought it was junk until i removed it from the car today. it popped right back into its original shape! there were some cracks, but i bent the thing again, filled the cracks with epoxy, and then sanded the epoxy flush with the rest of the material once it dried. now i don't have to throw it out! the emblem on the front of the grille was messed up, so i had to buy a new one off ebay which matched the dimensions of the old one. it won't be an exact match, but hell... the grille was RED when it came into my posession! after i got it, i painted it yellow, and now tomorrow i am going to paint it black. i don't have any of the REALLY good clearcoat left, so i'm going to go without for now and see how it looks. hopefully it will look alright--the stock grille does.

can do. i'm pissed about the left headlight not quite fitting right--but unless you're RIGHT there staring at the car you can't even tell right now. my goal is to make it so that no one can tell, heh.

hey, you autox, right? does your CF hood put you in a class other than FSP?

yeh..... having carbon fiber meens you have "weight reduction" and it puts you in the SM class agaisnt pretty much anything, evo's, STI's, swapped hondas, etc etc etc.... Sucks. lol. I do it for fun. not to win prizes or I would have to take it all off for the autox day.

my friend had said it would put me in SM, i figured i could ask you and you'd definitely know since you have the stuff. that kind of sucks... i'm doing it only so i don't have to paint, haha. i might just keep my stock hood and put it on for races.

So, that might be your best bet.

i'm still not entirely sure i want to race... i realized how totally screwed with cash i became after a relatively minor crash here. if i screw up the car racing i'll be just as screwed, so i'm a little worried about it. especially since it's my DD and not a dedicated track car.

Sorry about your accident. At least you are okay. You should look into getting the JDM headlights for your car.

here's some "after" pictures of the grille. i screwed it up this morning when i used the wrong kind of adhesive that glopped all over the emblem and surrounding areas... took me 4 hours to touch that crap up.

look at that shine! not bad for rattle can, eh? i'm probably going to put some more clearcoat on just to cover spots that aren't %100 shiny and smooth yet. looks good considering when i got it it looked like this:

and then this:

i also got my RRM headlights installed. there's a little fitment issue, but some weather stripping should take care of that. the issue was only because of the crash though... but i got 'em looking good. better pictures once i get my CF hood!
