why is that? what changed making it not fit correctly? Is it possible for me to replace the steering column with an 05? Or would that cost me way to much?

There will be a cost associated with a new steering column (in an older year fits) AND are you sure you want to play around with your power steering? (i.e. possible safety issue)

Changing the column wouldn't really do anything to the power steering. The power steering is actually controlled from a box that the column connects to. I don't think the cost would be worth it for a steering wheel. It would probably be cheaper to have somebody custom make an adapter for the Evo wheel to your steering column.

Nice, a functional racing steering wheel and you get to keep the airbag. I actually thought about changing out my stock evo steering wheel. Its a great wheel but I would prefer something a bit smaller. I drove my friends nissan with a D shaped momo wheel thats about 50% smaller in diameter than the evo wheel and it feels much better driving for long periods of time and when you need to turn alot like on a track.

I have an EVO wheel on my 02 OZ that i might be giving up if i can find a wheel like rcheung mentioned, the d shaped momo wheel.
I got my wheel for 70 bucks cause a guy at american tire co had just got into an accident with his evo and he was parting everything out. I got lucky and got the wheel right then and there.
