I actually tried that. Its very difficult to do, but it can be done. Just the problem is u can see all the internals through it and it looks crap unlike a ferrari or lamborghini one

Cheers!
Agree with this. The plate will look very weird if each lane is gigantic as would be necessary to take into account the play in the shifter.

CoastieOZ I cant find the pic. i been looking all over.

I might suggest also trying plexi glass instead of aluminum.
I know this is not the exact pic, BUT its the idea. this is civic DIY shifter console.

pics for progress!!!please.

I'd have to agree with the fact that it probably isn't a good idea to limit the travel of the shifter with these cars. I imagine the Ferraris are very specific in terms of gear selection. I'd just get a better looking boot (I agree with you...they look like crapola).

I know a lot people here are not supporting you for this idea. I say JUST DO IT!! If it doesnt work THEN oh well.

Prolly have to do a lot of test fitment and clearance checks. Better have a DREMEL.

My personal favorite - rally style. Remove the entire center console. I had my Lancer like that for a while (rear seats were out too). The only problem is if you're used to leaning on the console when you get in (I am). You tend to fall on the floor a lot.

is that a piece of rubber? or hard plastic?

any links to that diy, might help.

trying to get the lanes right and even though i have a short shifter it still isnt that precise, and that hole is small, also ive pulled the little silver ring off in this project (accident) oh well i guess superglue?

The reason Ferraris have that type of plate is because its a gated shifter, it requires precise movement, and to go from 1st to second you actually have to slide the shifter over into nuetral before moving down to 2nd.

That being said, I dont think your idea will work. I could be wrong though. Either way, that type of shift plate will force your shift throws to be more up and down, rather than direct on angles (like 2nd to 3rd), making them slower.
