OZ Gauge Cluster taken apart

Hobie (Andrew) and I were chatting over AIM and Andrew told me that he had taken out his gauge cluster. I was determined to change the colors of my gauge cluster so i went to my car and tore it out and ripped that sucker apart. Here are some pix:

In one of the pics ull see 3 red bulb condoms and 1 orange one. The orange one is for the LCD (mileage and trip). 3 red ones light up the gauges and other stuff. Imma try to replace the condoms with different colored ones and see what happens... The only problem is that the condoms feel like they are glued on, they dont wanna come off

You can replace them. The blue backings are red condomed bulbs, the white backing is the orange (lcd odo backlight) condomed bulb.

Get your fingernail under the condom at the base of the bulb and peel it up and off.

The odo will not reset just from unplugging it. His car looks like it just had the lights on with no key in the ignition (at least not in the key-on position) because there's also no fuel reading.

Man I sure hope your speedometer still works. I went messing around with taking the cluster a part once and when i reassembled it my speedometer no longer worked. It was a real pain in the *** to get it working again. Mistu. had my car like 4 day once the new cluster came in ( a totally new one had to be ordered) then both new and old had to be shipped to Cali for calibration. Real pain.

The outside is white, not red. Attention to detail, Karlen. Attention to detail.

That's as white as they get. The gauges are normally very red/orange. Almost on key with the needles. When you look at the gauges every night glowing orangy red...believe me, it looks much different.

Yes i could see orange, i was just thinking that after my last post. Why would you want to change the color? Just to see if you could? Or so many the "red" doesnt blind your eyes anymore. Although youll have to change that blinding red box staring you in the face. hehhe

Red is actually one of the easiest colors for your eyes to see at night...unless you're R/G color blind I suppose. Anyway I hate red. I absolutely hate it. I'm getting rid of whatever red I can.
