09 Lancer GTS Photoshoot w/ New Canon Rebel XSi DSLR (NO 56K!)
Just got my new camera and figured I would snap some pics to share. I have already spent 6 hours or so reading up on all the features of a digital SLR camera and I've only scratched the surface. Can't wait to start playing with some of these pictures in photoshop.
Enjoy and please leave comments!

I'm just getting started with the camera... I can tell it has a lot of potential, the more I read the more I'm learning about settings like ISO, Aperture, Depth of View, White Balance, etc... The pictures should get better as I learn more about how to effectively adjust those manual settings. These were taken with the basic kit lens, a nice wide angle would produce some cool pictures!

^^ I experimented with a few of the modes when I was taking these pictures, used Auto, P, AV, didn't go full Manual though. Waiting for a tripod, then I'm going to attempt an HDR photo with the AEB capability.

Nice shots Great choice with the camera. Its a lot of fun and great for a variety of subjects. Just make sure you buy a decent zoom lens for it though, cause the standard one is pretty poor for long range stuff. The 18-200mm IS lens recently came out, but if you're ok with using two lenses then I would highly recommend the 55-250mm IS

...a camera does not make a photographer, But a photographer can make the camera.
Love this shot, but would have been GREAT if the wheel was turned the other way.
Too many straight wheel shots and shadows are NEVER your friend. Good luck and keep up the good work
I wish I could afford a DSLR , I'm stuck with a point/shoot, but I make it work lol

Good starting point would be to browse the net for portfolio's of professional guys who've taken car photoshoots, or even in magazines. Then go out and try and replicate it, see the results, and try and make your own improvements. And basically go from there.

^^ yea, I have definitely learned that there are certain angles our cars look best from and lighting is a major issue. Yesterday was the first chance I had to take some pictures with the new camera so I did, but the sun was extremely bright and the snow was very reflective, I think that was preventing me from getting some stellar shots. I need to find a very simple background that won't through shadows and reflections all over the car. I'm also waiting for my tripod to come, that should help out as well.
Karan, how much was that 18-200mm lens? Optimally, I would want a good wide angle and then a zoom lens, so I could just switch between the two.
