bumper melting

I am puting on a set of headers down pipe and I have a catback that the muffler doesn't fit into my kaminari rear side skirt. I was wandering would still melt my rear skirt even though it is polyerthene.

lower your exhaust 1/2" and you'll be fine. Just play with the hanger till you get it right - dont pay $40+ at a muffler shop like a lot of the other guys on here.

yes, it will still melt even if its polyurethane. just like josh said, just play with the hangers until u get it right. if u still cant get it positioned properly, just take it to a shop to do it. another thing you can do is try and custom-fabricate a heatshield that goes around the rear lip where the exhaust is.

For 15-20 you can get some heatshield tape from an auto parts store...NAPA definitely has it. It is very thin and has an adhesive backing, it is easy to cut to the shape you want. It works very well, I have some on the cut out part of the car above the exhaust tip and I use it on my motorcycle...the header is toching the tape and plastic and it disperses the heat enough not to melt the plastic.

My bumper melted something nasty from my stock exhaust. Be sure you keep it at least 1" away from the urethane bumper.
