I dont remember the number I just remember seeing "Coarse" which is what i used... I used regular black Automotive Primer and then put the low gloss high temp black engine enamel over it.

youll want a very fine tooth. i used 320 on mine.

Wow, I think mine was more in the 150-200 number range....

it depends on the primer. mine called for 320 while others may recomend 180. there really isnt that much of a diff at that low.
