Start of a Sleeper

Ok ive given this much thought and i desided to do a sleeper and here is waht ive got so far all i have done is a aem intake but instead of the normal colors that they come in like silver red blue mine is a low gloss black. i had my hood poen one day and a friend of mine that konws cars asked what all i have done and i told him. well when he looked under my hood he was like it looks stock to me and i had to point out my intake so i thout i was on the right road to a sleeper. what do you think
here is the pic of my intake

i dont think you can be a sleeper unless you are fast and and you cant be fast in a lancer without major turbo work.

I would have gotten an ES but had a hell of a time finding a manual!

On-topic: Looks like a sleeper at a glance. Looking forward to seeing some more mods, good work!

Sleeper = Lancer
Why would you even want to do that?
Don't open the hood in front of nobody and just do the work on the engine
all show no go
dahh!

A) Intake looks very nice.
B) Yes, turn the AEM coupler, that will help.
C) I'm sorry, but your friend doesn't know cars. Anyone who misses a big old CAI with the AEM logo pointing at him . . .

a sleeper looks stock ON THE OUTSIDE. if they look under your hood and you have any power, stock or not, they gonna be able to tell (unless they are an idiot).

also, a sleeper is a car that looks slow, but goes fast. the lancer doesn't look that slow IMO, but unless you turbo it, you're not going to beat many minivans.

Anyone who knows even the slightest about cars would be able to tell that yours is not a stock intake, painted or not. Especially the people who have lancers. Sleepers are more or less classified as such because they look like normal cars on the OUTSIDE and have a ****LOAD of work done to make them haul ***. If you lift your hood they're gunna be able to tell, you just can't go all rice and make the outside look like an evo or sumthin, jsut keep it lookin like the day you bought it and supe up the engine. Cept like they said above it would require a lot of engine work and a turbo. New header, exhaust, suspension work (Prolly the most important) basically a lot of money, which I say isn't worth it on this car, if your gunna spend a lot, sell it and buy something else if you want it faster
