how does strut bar work?

sorry if i sound like a newb, but how can a bar like that "reduce chassis flex to improve steering response and stability."? Doesn't the bar just attach to the 3 screws? how does that help stablize the car if the screws dont move? or do they? sorry im really stupid....

My view on this is:

Without the bar:
When you take a curve, the strut tend to "bend" inwards towards the engine (assuming it's the front strut bar)

With the bar:
When you take a curve, the strut tend to "bend" inwards
When they bend inwards, the strur bar will keep them from bending

A strut in another word for your Shock assembly

Depending where you lives, and where the sender lives, 13$ seems about right.

Those 13$ struts are crap, buy a well engineered one, such as a RRM or a PDX (spelling?) bar.

I think I missread the post. If it's 13$ for the bar AND the shipping, go buy somwhere else. 13$ should be for only shipping

The good ones are one piece, thick metal tubes. The crap ones are "adjustable" which usually means they flex more and/or don't fit properly.

A good one is all one solid peice. I just ordered a Rear Strut Bar and a Rear Tie Bar from Rob Aka. PDXRalliart. Here is a link to his stuff And his prices might seem high in comparison to a 13 buck brace but it is far better construction.

okay now i gave up on taht cheap bar, but i still dont really understand how the bar works. So the bar prevents the struts from bending? or make both sides bend together? how does it prevent the struts from bending just by attaching to the screws?

yeah i dont think that bar in the auction would fit either.... cuz it shows 4 screw holes but my car has only 3 screws.... and the black little piece looks to thin, might break easily or something
