40 series on an 18" wheel

can I put a 40 series tire on an 18' wheel. what size? I don't want the tire to be cupping in at all .I like tires when the either lip over the rim or are straight with them.

On stock riding height, your 18's w/ 40's will probably rub at certain pts.

I am lowered on progress springs right now and the 35's rub in sharp turns and such, I am planning on bringing it up a bit with tien coilovers

40 series won't work. You'd have to go as narrow as 195 to make them fit without rubbing. I recommend 215/35/18, MAYBE 225/35/18 if you're daring and absolutely sure that you have the primo perfect offset.

well how about 17's? because my wife and 12 other people hit a bucket link on the freeway today and her 2 right tires and rims were destroyed. Soo we are replacing them all with 17's the 18s are always bending. Need to get the tiens asap.

Personally, I think 15 is the best size for the Lancer, but 17s will fit much better than 18s.

I think 18 look the best but you can run a 40 with a 17 and never have to worry anout scraping. offset is an issue too. I have an 18 inch wheel with a 215-35 tire and 38 offset. tein s techs and no rubbing. you would just have to test drive with the tire on there to really know.

For the sole purpose of practicality, go with 17" rims. Mine is at 205/45/17. The wheel height is just right and the looks awesome. No rubbing and it's not as painful on street bumps, etc...Again, still looks sweet.

well we went with 205 40 17 and they almost don't rub at all, and strange times they seem to but not even close as with the 18's, My wife was not as happy with the look but all the other benifits over ride that in my opinion. btw has anyone ever rolled there fenders on an ES?
