Coilovers - what should I get?
i'm going to be getting my taxes back soon and i will have about $600
are tein basic the best coilovers for the price?
will i be able to do this install by myself and a few buddies?
(will i need a shop lift or could i do this in my drive way?)
what type of tools will be needed?
i'm not sure what else to ask but i really want to lower my car and have better handleing, for those of you who have installed coilovers i would really appreciate opinion/advice on the whole process, thx.

I would say the Ksport pros are the best for the price. Thats what im looking to buy. with the ksports you get height adj, damper adj, upper pillowball mounts and camber plates all for about $200 less then tein basics which only have height adj. With Teins you are paying a lot for the name.
I have heard from plenty of evo and honda guys that Ksports are very good. I researched them quite a bit because I never heard of them. do a search on here for ksport and a few threads about them will pop up.
heres a link to Ksports site. http://www.ksportusa.com/products/coilovers.html
There is a vendor that can get them for around $700 shipped. Of course hes not a vendor here but if you pm me I can get you the info.

Its not to crazy. Those kinda things is what I expect in a good/usefull coilover setup. A member on here, Ambystom01 just bought them and told me he will make a thread sometime on it so people can see how they are. Not many Lancers have them so most people dont know they even exist.

theres nothing wrong with buying springs and shocks separately.. thats how it used to be done before coil-overs.. maybe you see some shocks and springs by different brands.. if you really want coil-overs.. just get some teins.. they seem to be the ones to have..

If you want to be able to adjust height and damper you need coilovers. For the Lancer coilovers is the only true upgrade for our suspension. The struts that are offered are something like 10% stiffer then stock... I would consider that almost pointless. Just my opinion though.
Teins are only the ones to buy because thats whats been made out of them. They arnt necessarily the best just because they are "name brand".. Especially if your on a budget.

I'm aiming for Ksport coilovers. The Teins are a tad pricey, and so far I haven't seen any "HOOLY CRAP I HATE THESE COILOVERS." I think some evo guys have em too. If you can afford the Teins, go for it. If you're cheap and don't want to throw all your money away on your Lancer (like me. Evo eventually, i know it) then k-sport or nex or whatever.

K-Sports and NEX are the best coilovers for the price as of now. Only compaint i heared with NEX is that you have to use the zip-ties for brake lines. I havent heared any one compaining about the K-Sports yet.
PS: TEINS are expensive just becuase of their name. I saw a thread where someone blew out TEIN SHOCK on their lancer which makes be belive that TEINS are not 100% perfect coilovers.............

Nice thread, thanks for the valuable info, as I am also in the market for some coilovers now because my Ground Control kit has a popping noise on the front passenger side. And I cannot and will not find a single spring for sale, so I figured I'd replace them with some legit coilovers, Teins are just a little pricey considering the value of my vehicle. Definitely looking into Ksports
