There's rally and then there's rallycross. Two completely different animals. RallyX is an autocross on grass or dirt, tracks usually run around 1 minute ot a minute and a half.
For reference a fairly successful RXer that I AX with races his stock 2000 Subie Legacy wagon. I would be comfortable racing with my Tein SS kit if I rased the ride height about 10cm and turned the damping down some.
There's also Time-speed-distance rally if you don't want to beat the hell out of your car but want a challenge that might take you offroad once in a while. You may need to get a good set of rally lights, too, as these tend to start in the evening when there's less traffic (at least they do around here). You're racing against the perfect time as determined by the guys who set up the course.

Umm... yeah I know the difference between rallycross, rally and TSD. I just want to know what suspension components people are using on their Lancer...make/model of coilovers/shocks/struts.
Pref. something that isn't custom built.

Look into Hotbits, it's real rally-capable stuff and a great value for the money. About $2K for double-adjustable w/ external reservoirs. 46mm piston, 22mm piston-rod, 40-way rebound & 30-way compression damping. Completely rebuildable by Larry Parker here in the U.S., and rebuilds won't break the bank.
I bought my Hotbits from Doug Davenport at Davenport Racing, and he was great to deal with, as well as Larry Parker and Peter Reilly. They were all great help, and gave me quite a bit of advice.
Here's what I could find from the application list for the Lancer (I have an Evo so I'm not too familiar with the base Lancer):
MITSUBISHI Lancer CB 1.3/1.5/1.6/1.8 1992 - 1996 HB.SS 90-201-RACE
Lancer CK2 1.3/1.5 4DR 1997 - 1998 HB.SS 90-201-RACE
Lancer CK4 1.6/1.8 4DR 1999 - HB.SS 90-211-RACE
I don't see the 2.0L listed, but one above may fit and that list is old, so it's probably worth a phone call.

Here's what they look like with the optional top-mounts:

D@mn! If those would work on our Lancers, that would be tight ! Definitely look at those, though the ones listed I don't think would work... But like he said, it's old info.

I am planning on racing my 03' OZ lancer in the Utah rallycross races this season. Since Rallycross isn't all that abusive you don't need a whole lot of suspension mods to have a successful rallycross car. I plan on doing the RRM rear sway bar with perches, RRM front and rear strut bars, KYB GR2 struts w/ stock springs, and some ES bushings. The best upgrade you could do to your car for rallycross is upgrade to some gravel rally tires. Those would make more of a difference then suspension mods would, especially on a front wheel drive! And be sure to invest in some big ol' rally flaps to keep your car looking like a 2004! They may look goofy but you'll regret it if you don't!
