If you're installing a full coilover setup (Teins, K-sports, Megan, etc), you'll only need the most basic tools...a couple wrenches and a couple ratchets. Don't forget to get an alignment afterwards.

its easy to do it yourself. just need basic tool. You can pretty much rip apart your entire front and rear suspension with a 17mm and 19mm socket.

well i want to be able to do things myself but i hardly have any tools(hammer, pliers, couple of wrenches, and screwdrivers) and i figure it to be cheaper and done better in a shop. but some friends of mine just recently said they did a setup on a 240 sx so im gonna let them do it and get the allignment in a shop

edit: they are the tein basics if wondering

If they'll do it on the cheap side, then why not. But if you look at it this way, for the amount of money you'd pay them to install it, you could buy yourself a nice set of Craftmen, Husky, Kobalt tools to do it yourself. Like we've said, just a few wrenches really; plus a flat head screwdriver and hammer will be handy for the brake line clip on the strut housing.

Oh, do you even have a set of jack stands?

Well, if you have a 12mm/17mm/19mm/or an adjustable wrench you can totally do this yourself! Take the money you would have spent on the install ($100?), and get an tools that you might need in addition.

i would have easily charged someone $250-350 to put coilovers on my car if i was a mechanic and they brought it to my shop, haha. the sheer frustration of slamming the camber bolts until they were flat on the ends and laying in a puddle of liquid wrench... not fun!

but when you do the install yourself you can be proud of it. i know i am!

yeah they should be here in the next 3 days or so for some reason shipping from canada to the us takes extra long but whatever...then i have to order parts from road // race to make them fit since they were originally for an es and go on an es. after that then i will be able to put them on.
