Whoevers video that is....the guy obviously is all about looks...

Anyways, that wasnt an actual evo vortex generator. The evo one is a single piece, while the one on his car is a bunch of little pieces that you probably tape on...must be a pain in the *** to line up.

NO. The Evo VIII and IX does not. The 08 roof is 2" thinner. Must be custom?

it is. this video has been posted before, as well as a link to this guy's cardomain page and a link to an online store that sells the plastic vortex generators. it comes in like a pack of 10 and you have to space the blades yourself.

If the 08's roof is 2" thinner, could the generator be modified or cut down to fit?

Not effectively. The VG wraps around the edges of the roof and tuck underneath the rubber weather seal that runs along the seam. In the end, it could be done, but won't have the OEM fit/finish.

Keep in mind the VG was engineered specifically with the CT9A chassis/spoiler in mind. The profile of the CY4A is significantly different and the airflow around the chassis will change accordingly. See the diagram below from Mitsu's own press release.

From that diagram, it looks like engineers went out of their way to make that wing more function than form...which explains the somewhat funny shape of the X & GTS wings. Also, according to that diagram, it looks like vortex generators wouldn't really have much of an effect since the air flow is already nice and tight while going over the car and down the back window...then the wing splits the air perfectly.

Yes. It looks like a trunk lip would work too if it were shaped correctly.
