wrap them *****es in some rubber

i have some questions about tires. im not sure what i need.

rmr says they put 205/45 r17 tires on thier rims (by the way if anyone could clue me in on what all those numbers mean that would be great)

i was also told by someone i may need 215/45 r17 tires. akk so many numbers any help would be aprieciated.

i am putting 17 X 7 motegi mr7's on the car if that helps any.

thanks

xox

Stick with the 205's the 215's will be too wide. Look at the people running 215's the all have major rubbing issues. If you can live with rub go for it. Stick with the 45 profile tires too, unless you want the speedo to be way off with 40 series or lower tires. Plus you start getting into the easy to bend a wheel area when you get below 45's. Plus the ride gets really harsh too. Just get the 205/45 17's it's the correct plus size, won't screw the speedo up, and won't rub either.

excellent points b_tapper, i've got a question, i'm actually looking at 40 profile tires, how can i adjust the speedo? can i do it manually or does it involve fidgeting with the ECU?

Look at like tire rack, they have charts and it has percentages listed. Use those to figure out how off the speedo is and just remember that when driving. I know on older vehicles the speedo used a gear to get the speed you just had to change that gear to adj the speedo. Not sure exactly how it works now and on imports, The speedo gear change was on a early 90's chevy pick up.

On 17" wheels with 205/45/17's the difference isn't noticable. Rolling diameter is just about the same as stock. at 60mph on the speedometer your actual speed will be 59.9 to give you an idea.

smaller wheels

I have 16" on my car. They help out a lot in autocross. It all depends on what you'd like to do with your car. If you want the cool look and you're not taking your car to any autocross, then 17' are better, but for the best of both worlds...16 is the way to go.
