How would the OEM Evo X tires/wheels fit on the Lancer? I'm sure there's plenty of guys selling theirs for aftermarkets. I think they're 245/40/18.

Nitto INVO 225/45/18

I replaced my rear tires for Nitto INVO 225/45/18 keeping the original wheels, and the car feels great! I kept the front ones in 215/45/18, but I don't think that the other ones (225 ...) would have any trouble fitting...

Why would you replace the rear tires that don't contribute that much to handling, braking or acceleration but not the fronts, that do the majority of the work?

Especially when they're different widths and different rolling diameter.

I probably just use the stock Dunlop tires for this upcoming Winter, and see how it goes. I think I should be okay, at least I survived the first major snow storm last year in MA with a set of Summer tires on my Mazda 3 for 1 day (totally different story, stupid dealers).

But if I am going to replace the Lancer stock tires with something else, I would definitely go with Kumho Ecsta ASX. I have nothing but good experience with it on my Mazda 3 for 2 Winter.

Go to tirerack.com, read the reviews and judge for yourself. :-)

with the stock dunlops I got stuck on top of the snow last winter. wasn't buried or anything just had no traction on the compressed snow. even had guys push me and would get going then would get stuck again. Even with starting in 2nd. So I used the free roadside assistance to tow me out. When I called them they were like you have to dig yourself out of the snow, so I told them I wasn't in snow, I was on top of snow. 2 weeks later same thing happened. I Found once the snow gets compressed a little to icey snow and you have tire ruts everywhere that was a no go situation for the dunlops.
So i wouldn't suggest driving all winter with the dunlops.

Now I am thinking about getting two sets of tires, one just for winter and the other set for spring/summer/fall. What would be considered the best winter tires in our rim size? I will look into the summer tires later in the year.

^^ They don't make winter tires for 18s...not at least that I could find and believe me, i did some serachin!

you'll have to get a smaller set of rims. Lots of guys suggest using the plain jane steelies for winter tires. 16" is the smallest you can go.

I'm still debating on whether or not to run the dunlops through the winter but after reading the post above, I think he/she may have just swayed me to go with a winter set and just put up with the TPMS warning.

Are you planning what I'm planning to do also?

I want to buy 4 aftermarket wheels and put my stock tires on it. Those will be for Summer.

I will then buy a set of winter tires and put them on the stock tires.

The only thing is the stupid TPMS. It's probably worthwhile to buy an extra set then having someone to transfer it every half year or so.

I'm just going to take off the dunlops in a few months, get a tire place to put on some winter tires to my stock GTS 18" rims, then a few months later I'll buy some good summer tires and have them put those on. I will keep the winter tires at my house to switch back the following year. This way I keep my rims and TPMS on both sets of tires

The only issue with popping winter and summer tires off on the same rims is that you add a lot of extra stress to both the tire and the rim and then you can have problems with either or both. Lets face it, these guys at the tire shops aren't going to take care of your car like you do.

Besides, goin to a 16" steelie is good cuz the price of the winter tire drops by like half and also you wont be pissed if nething happens to the steelies.
