Question 215/45/18 stretch...

Lookin at getting Rota SVN 18x8.5 with a +45 offset. Thinking of stretching the stock 215/45/18. Pro, Cons, opinions?

I had a 215/45 18 on 18x9.5 wheels on my s13. No problem.

215/45 18 on 8.5 is not a stretch.

If you are talking about the dunlops, get rid of them. You should be able to find a good wheel and tire package.

i think it would look stupid I have seen small tires on wide rims. Doesn't look good. GET a tire that fits properly!

yeah get some nice 225/45/18 tires and get rid of those dunlops. the traction my snow tires give in any condition are better then those crappy dunlops. not to mention my summer tires, its like driving a different car.

The Rota SVN in 18x8.5 +45 comes in Gun Metallic, we have a new shipment of these special ordered wheels arriving very soon

Like others have mentioned, it will work however it is not an ideal tire size for these wheels. You can get by with it but the tire will be stretched a bit.

It is safe to drive with the stock tires stretched on the 8.5? maybe until you can buy another set of tires?

It is not something that I would personally recommend. For this car and with a 18x8.5 wheel you would want to run a 235/40/18 tire. People do stretch 215/45/18's on 18x8.5 wheels all the time though and it does work.

i'm running Michelin X-ICE in the 225/45/18 size on the stock rims and I must say that I loved them last winter. The traction is wonderful in any condition and the looks are great too, no gross 16 inch steelies for me.

You're not running them year round are you? Do you have a separate summer tire?
