17x7 +42 -16..

recently i found a local Italian Sparco Distributor.. so i bought some Sparco 16mm hub centric spacers.. so my current setup is 17x7 +42..

the fronts are on.. but i cant fit the extended lug nuts in the rear.. i already have an idea.. but whats the easiest way to remove the rear hubs?.. my car is on jack stands in the driveway.. thanks..

here are some pics..

hit it with a mallet first on top then bottom til its loose, or use a hammer but put something in between the hammer and hub

use a screw driver or hubcap removal tool to get the tin cap off, the undo the cotter pin or whatever is locking the hub nut, remove the bearing and pull the hub off.

This is also a good time to grease the bearing and check their condition. Also check the grease seal. Do find the specs for tightening the bearing nut back up or you could have a failure. Usually you just tighten the nut by hand until no more play is felt then lock it.

pry the little silver cap off with a flat head screw driver and a hammer like what camshaft said and pull the hand brake up and loosen the bolt everything should be pretty straight forward from there let us know how it goes

it should not spin when you apply the hand brake but an air tool will be the best to use

i bought 15mm spacers in the back but I bought the wrong size ARP studs.

by the way.. taking off the hubs was the easiest part.. for some reason the bolts that hold the in place didnt have the safety pin through them like any other car would have.. i took an air gun to the bolt on the softest setting and it can right off.. and the hub just followed.. i wonder what the specs for hubs and spindles are.. we could probably swap the hubs out with other cars to get what ever lug pattern we want.. i wish i had a local junk yard to experiment!.. 5 lug pattern any1..

IMO with a 5 lug pattern in the rear just drill the pattern out on the drum and slide it on.. and the same for the rotors in the front.. that way we could still use our stock brake assembly..

The rear hub is an integral hub/bearing assembly. It doesn't have adjustable bearings like a conventional hub. That big nut is simply tightened down until it stops, and the preload is built into the hub assembly. Definitely don't leave it hand tight! Also I've never had much luck reusing them after they've been pulled off that spindle stub. They seem to come apart. New ones are cheap enough though so I wouldn't worry about it.
