Broke lug nut screws while trying to remove wheel

Hello Guys,

I broke two of my lug nut screws whilst trying to unscrew my lug nuts today. (front passenger)

Do I have to replace the whole hub now?

Is there any easy way to change the screws? Any how to's on how to do this?

Thanks!
Dbansal

Just have the broken studs replaced no need to replace the whole hub and use anti seize compound on the studs before you put your wheels back on.

You need to take the hub off and prees it apart, then you can replace the studs and press it back together if I am not mistaken..It's not fun if you don't have a press..

So is it easy to fix yourself or would it just be easier to get a mechanic to fix this?

My Thread

check out the link and the pics.. all you need are the new studs, a hammer, and the sockets to take the caliper off..

first remove the wheel.. then remove the caliper.. then remove the rotor.. which should leave you with the hub exposed.. then literally hammer the broken studs once or twice dead center.. they will pop right off.. VERY IMPORTANT.. the new studs should not wiggle around in the hub.. make sure they are seated correctly by using spacers and tightening them into place before adding the wheel..
