KYB GR-2/Excel G shocks/struts, Whats the difference between 2002 ES vs. 2002 OZ/LS?

Why does KYB have different part numbers for the KYB GR-2/Excel G's for the 2002 Lancer ES vs. the 2002 Lancer OZ/LS?

Would the struts meant for the 2002 Lancer OZ/LS be better (upgrade?) for a 2002 Lancer ES?

Whats the difference? dampening?
Seems the OZ/LS versions are cheaper by a few bucks usually..

why?

Anyone know for sure?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on getting the suspension back in shape because I now have a bad inner tie rod..

Regardless of the upper strut mount, what exactly is "slightly different" ??

Is this heresy or hands on experience? Is there a tech sheet that shows you some sort of difference in measurement?

I'm installing a set of Excel G/GR2's today.. I got all 4 for $300 shipped.. pink KYB Excel G box's

I just ordered the BMR79 18mm rear sway bar from whiteline...good price too...the progress bar is a bit pricey, and only 1mm bigger...

Ok so I also have the same question about the struts. Right now I just need struts for my 02 ES. I don't care nothing about brands or dropping the car.

As for the strut mounts being different from the ES to the OZ / LS, I'm guessing that's BS..... When I look for just the strut mounts every brand shows that they fit ES OZ and LS. So if the mounts ARE the SAME then why wouldn't OZ struts fit my ES? I'm sorry to sound like a dick but I have looked over this forum and all I have found were BS replies like They are different fits, just get what is for YOUR car. DUDE THAT DOESN'T HELP.

Is there anybody on here that knows how to do more then just bolt parts on to there car?

although kyb has two references for the rear, the mounts are the same and the shocks have the same external dimensions and very close specs. you can use monroe or sensen too. So ES./LS/OZ share the same.

as for the fronts, the body length, piston length, travel length are different, and the mounts are different.
The total length is the same though. The springs don't seem to have the same diameter (though I never measured them).

here are the 2 models specs, you will sort out which is for which model, if you know better than just threading bolts

FYI, for a Lancer 2002 ES, like yours, I got my mounts from Monroe, my struts from Sensen - to have the cheapest set possible ever, cost me 210$ off rockauto, these struts are good so far, read on mazda forums they were fine so I tried.

I did a quick write up on the rear here:
