Tire rub
I just recentley developed a tire rub after having my new tires installed. This bothers me because I have the stock rims with the correct size tires (195/60-15). I only notice it when I turn to go up a hill. My car is lowered with Progress springs, I never had a rub with the factory tires. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Odd, my car never rubbed with the stock rim/tire setup, nor does it rub when I have my 17s on for summer. I dont recall Progress owners talking about rub with stock tires either.....

I had the alignment check and adjusted about 3 months after I lowered it and about 2 months after that when I hit a pothole. Everything was fine then. The second alignment was about 3 months ago. I was going to have my alignment done again when I take the wifes car in the have the same thing done. Thanks for the suggestions.

Rubbing
I also have Progress springs. No rubbing with my stock tires on ever. When I have my 17"s I experienced rubbing. I had Kuhmo Ecsta 215/40's and they didn't rub unless I really cornered hard or hit a big bump. When I put on Yokohama AVE ES 100's 215/40's they rubbed even worse. However, the Yok's were Z rated and had a wider contact patch then the Kuhmo's. Depending on what kind of tires you have, the sportier tires are wider on the shoulder to offer better cornering grip but offer less fender clearance.
I just put on a pair of Continental Extreme Contact 205/40ZR 17"s and they haven't rubbed a bit. However, they have a mud/snow rating so the sholder of the tire is narrower and blocked so the tire is not as wide, No rubbing at all with the smaller size and SS style tire. However, they are not as sticky as the Yok's. Will probably throw some Yok's or some Pilots back on for summer time....
If you say you are rubbing now with the stock wheels and tires I would say you have some issue as you should have plenty of clearance with stock set unless you went to a wider than stock tire or possibly a Z rated tire.

Thanks mcbrown, that may explain it. I did put a set of Yokohaha AVS es-100's on my car. They do look a hair wider even though they are the same size. I never thought of the wider contact patch over the stock Goodyear's. What should I do to fix it, or should I leave everything alone?
