Tanner, actually upsizing doesn't necessarily change the speedo if you get lower profile tires that make the overall diametet the same. Such tires (or as close as possible) are listed in the sticky on this forum. As for drivetrain wear, it's mostly due to the added weight of larger rims. Just figure the heavier the rim, the more strain on the drivetrain.

Yeah, I know, people get pissed that I mention the speedo thing, because it's just a small percentage of incorrectness, but, I still say it's just one more thing. Plus, you have to go a lower profile for bigger wheels to keep it accurate, and that does impact ride quality and wheel durability pretty heavily.

If you want 16s to look good, I'd recommend forgoing the lip. Try and find something where the spokes go all the way to the tires. Anything with a lip at this size will make the wheels look alot smaller than they are. Just my advice.

Well, if it makes any difference to you guys, I am switching to the stock rims with Azenis tires for autocross. The smaller diameter and lower weight will help acceleration and cornering. However, if you're looking for something to perform well and keep the speedo correct (and look better than the stock 15s) I suggest 16s. 17s will still perform pretty well, but the weight will be a little bit of an issue.
