Question Front and Rear Sway Bars

I am think of purchasing one. I would like to know if anyone can recommend the correct thickness for the best handling with little or none over and understeering. I am interested in Cusco.

Thanks.

No one makes a front.

Progress is the only maker for a rear, and they only make one size.

Enjoy!

you looking for them for the uslancer or the evo? if you have an evo, search in teh evo forums. if you are an es uslancer you can get the stock rear sway bar from the OZ (hot too great) or you can get the raer progress one like blacksheep already said.

As said above, there is only an aftermarket rear one available for the Lancer (non Evo) right now, but that's all you need unless you're running in the stock class for SCCA autocross (only to reduce body roll). Once you lower the car, you won't want a larger front one.

Probably... you're buying the sway bar so that it will be a stiffer bar than stock. Whether you'll take advantage of that stiffness at an autocross or not makes little difference. If you get the aftermarket sway bar and never need the perches, you probably aren't using the sway bar either.

I agree, you'd still want the perches. Ironically, I've only heard of one set of stock perches being broken during an autocross while at least 4 people have broken them on the streets just taking a corner too hard or cruising canyons. The difference is that most autocross racers practice smooth transitions while the average joe yanks the steering wheel too much, so they're both at risk because of the load that will happen to the sway bar at herd cornering as well as snappy maneuvers.

The LS and OZ Lancers come with a rear sway bar, and so the perches are already there. They are incredibly flimsy. If you get the aftermarket sway bar, they will break, and when they do, it will be as if you have no sway bar at all because the pivot of the swear bar won't be locked in place. So if you're getting the new sway bar for a reason, then you may as well get the new perches while you're under there, unless your goal is no sway bar at all... if that's the case, getting the Progress bar is a really expensive downgrade ;-)

in other words, why get a stronger bar if you're using the weak perches that came with the weak bar?
